Welcome to Rockin the River! This experience is a fusion of nature, music and paddling.
Rockin the River is a pre-registered guided tour where participants will either kayak or canoe down the Nottawasaga River from the Wasaga Beach Sports Park to Schoonertown Park. The paddle should take about 2.5 hours. Along the way there will be 8 different spots where musicians will be set up and performing. As the river has good current in it – participants will float by and listen to them – but will not stop.
There will be a maximum of 12 boats per “flotilla” that will depart every hour on the hour between 11:00am – 3:00pm. Each flotilla will have a minimum of 3 guides with them.
Once the flotilla has reached Schoonertown, participants will be shuttled by bus back to the Sports Park to get their vehicle. Free Spirit Tours will bring all boats back to the Sports Park to disinfect and use for another flotilla.
To participate, please see our registration page. Once at the registration page, under the EVENTS line please choose the OPEN section and you can select your chosen departure time between 11:00am and 3:00pm. You will then be prompted to log in or create an account. There are options for each time slot: single rider boat, tandem boat, or your own boat.
Cost options: Single person $65.00+HST, 2 people in one boat $120.00, Have your own boat? $20.00. Children under 12 are free, but will be required to be in the same boat as an adult. Please select a tandem kayak or canoe when booking. Space is limited.
Boat Rental Cost Includes: Boat, paddle, life jacket, safety kit, brief instruction, a guided tour and enjoying the sounds of the featured musicians and bands along the route.
Have your own boat? If you have your own boat, please choose that option when registering and you will be included in the shuttle back along with transportation for your boat. You must follow all boating requirements and wear a life jacket, and have a safety kit.
Experience: Beginners to Experienced – the river is great for beginner paddlers. You'll get a map of the river and be shown some paddle strokes to help you maneuver your boat.
