(Online via Zoom) 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the Remembrance poppy in Canada. While wearing a poppy is one way to honour our Veterans, the Remembrance Day Ceremony has played a major role in Remembrance since 1931. Join your host Wasaga Beach Public Library with speaker Sergeant (Retired) Anthony R. Beresford, CD who will take a behind the scenes look at the anatomy and history of the traditional Commonwealth Remembrance Service and the duties of the troops that participate in them. About Mr. Beresford:
Anthony Beresford is a 29 year veteran, who has served in all three services. Mr. Beresford retired as an RCEME Sergeant. He did RCN Fishery Patrols late 1970's, RCAF NORAD Northern Patrols and NATO Operations Iceland in early '80's. He also served in the United Nations mission in Cambodia '92, NATO SFOR Roto 4 Bosnia .99, Quebec Ice Storm, and on 9/11. He is an instructor for Battle Procedure and technical training at the RCEME School. Mr. Beresford also has an extensive background in regional military history and protocol and resides in Wasaga Beach.
